Dragonfly at Warriewood Wetlands

Dragonfly Environmental are managing weeds in Warriewood wetlands.
The beauty of the Dragonflies and Damselflies helps balance the mud that one must walk through to get to the weeds, that are otherwise hidden by tall vegetation.
Love the mud too as an essential part of this freshwater partly forested wetland in Sydneys northern Beaches.
The main weed is Ludwigia peruviana. My kids asked what weed is and the best answer was that is a greedy plant. One that grows in a way that doesn’t let any others share the space plus it’s a plant that doesn’t have the “code” of that area.
It can be a tricky discussion because there is a point that could come where one ask about humans and are we weeds?
Personally I had those questions years ago (as a teenager I guess thinking humans were weeds destroying the planet and wondering if nature would be much better if there were no humans).
Now I see the intention of many to Care for the Environment – our home.
Other are just trying to survive using what they know best – not always in Harmony with nature.
So the sharing of the images and Caring for Warriewood Wetlands is a piece in the global puzzle of Environmental Care.
