Setting Intention Workshop New Moon 3rd Feb Narrabeen

“Why when you find something works so well that you then not continue with it” Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha

This morning I awoke at my mums place. I’d stayed overnight and she is having holiday time with my two Children for a few days.
So there I was different place, different environment – hmmm I could sleep in a bit as there is not my usual place to run and do morning practice…or….
luckily I caught myself justifying the low-effort path and quickly got my self dressed and out the door to the park across the road.
I was already later than I usually set as the start time for morning practice so I could have felt down about it and guilty or just get on and do the best form now.
So I choose that – and how wonderful the opening lines of the Morning Prayer are as they say:

“Today We are Born Again
to care and grow stronger”

Staying in past “failures” does not move a person forward rather it keeps them in a past time and thus not fully present to take in all occurring right now nor does it free out attention to plan and be ready for future. The past is anything early then right now. So if something was not optimal a minute ago I know I now have the opportunity to improve to learn from and grown from it.

In the Cherokee Language there is no word for failure the words there is is best translated as “Falling Forward” Parisha Taylor.

Yes everyday, every minute is new.

So I got onto the track and while part of me said run fast 6 laps another was starting it’s story line of why 2 would be better. Again time to observe and say no to the sideline I was to stay on focus and 6 it was.

By the 3rd lap I started to feel good.
By the 4th Better
by the 5th I had more energy than when I started
I’d done the 6th my body now hot,sweating in the humid Sydney summer morning, I felt alive feeling my heart beat hard against my chest and my whole self feel the alive tingles of well moved lymph fluid and energy.

It reminded me that in a conversation with my son we had talked about exercising and what your body felt like afterward.
he had said the good feeling is …“it’s because the packets of light get let out all over your body”.

I’ve run before, many many times, usually same time early every morning following by other practices all of which I know positively influence my mood, my actions, my reactions, my implementation of tasks, my ability to spot and utilise opportunities (sometimes called co-incidences)… why the self talk about needing less.

There are reasons and I know what they are and that assist me in quieting that voice.
Now to get to a place totally without that voice that talks of the “no action or apathy way”

Many tools are available to assist in achieving what we plan to do.
To get completed cycles of action.
To be the cause of what occurs not just be effected by everything else happening TO us.

So what does it take to make us use these techniques and keep using them once we know they work?

Learning can be by: 1) trial and error or 2) by your intuition or 3) from those who have experiences and / or wisdom who then share it with us.

I use all of the above……and know the first is not the most gentle.

Thus I would like to share what I have been taught and what I know to be true for me from experience.
The areas I’ll cover in the workshop are:

how to determine what the intention of a specific project / or area of life is,
how to set intention,
how to keep focus,
removing doubt and
achieving / reaching the outcome.

To make it easy to apply to your situations the workshop will be a mixture of presented information and demonstrated techniques form the following areas:

specific meditation types,
movement types and
drawing and writing formulas

all of which are tools for achieving your intentions.

Why have intentions?

“You get that which you put the most focus on”

I’ll share a simple version of the quantum physics behind why and how this is true.

Plus information from brain research that shows why we focus on certain things – even when they are not what we want.
Plus how to re-wire your neurons (brain cells and connections) so your focus is where you want it.

Teh information to be shared has largely come form my Elder whom I call Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha.
A Buddhist of very high standing Venerable Pa’Ris’Ha is always cause over what is occurring around her and knows that intention is everything.

Hence I’l be sharing on the topic of intention setting and how to make it real from what I’ve learnt over 7 years of direct teaching from my Elder.
